An Eagle Among Blackhawks

Congratulations GAC!

Happy Anniversary to Giles & Associates Consultancy (GAC) who celebrated its 15th anniversary on July 12th! And congratulations to Lisa Giles for beginning such a successful firm back in 2000 and creating an awesome team of wonderful, intelligent people.

I had the great honor of being able to celebrate this milestone with the team at an anniversary dinner last Thursday. Hosted at Knollwood Country Club, the GAC team and their plus 1’s commemorated the anniversary with a bottle of champagne and a toast by Lisa Giles. (pictured below)

From left to right: the back of Bruce Carlson’s head (COO), Nina, Bob Hollar (CTO), Lisa Giles (CEO), the back of Phillip’s head, half of my face, and Phillip’s wife
Just another angle, here you see the full Bruce Carlson, part of Susan’s face, Aimee, her husband, and to the right of them stood Nina, Bob, Lisa then me. Cheers!

The food was incredible, but what I enjoyed even more was listening to the stories being told, and all of the achievements the team has seen throughout these 15 years. I am so grateful to be learning and working for people who wholeheartedly enjoy what they do and take the time to teach me about the industry. At the dinner, something that stuck out to me is how Giles described consulting. This isn’t word-for-word, but she said “In our business, we look at the problems these large pharma and biotech companies are facing, we break it out into tiny pieces, and rebuild it in a way that makes the company more successful and better off.” I thought it was interesting because I never thought about it in that way, but I have learned a lot working for Lisa—most notably that she loves Kiawah Island, SC as much as I do! So that is pretty awesome.

Also this past week, I went to the Taste, just as I said I was going to in a previous post. It was a sweet festival, and I got to see one of my favorite bands, Spoon, perform!! I had a great experience and am about to have more when my cousin comes to visit me this weekend!!!!!! It is her first time in Chicago, so we are going to have a lot of fun, I can’t wait!

Until next time…
