An Eagle Among Blackhawks

Guten Tag! Hallo! Wie gehts?

Nothing like some German greetings to start off a blog post…and make myself feel cultured. Actually, every time I walk outside I feel like such a cultured woman because of all of the ethnicity surrounding Chicago. I have very much enjoyed being able to invest my time in exploring all of the different towns. Whether it be Chinatown, Greektown, the Polish Triangle, there is always something new to discover and some festival to attend. This weekend is actually Taste of Chicago held at Grant Park! According to the City of Chicago website:

Taste of Chicago is the nation’s premier outdoor food festival showcasing the diversity of Chicago’s dining community. The delicious array of food served at Taste of Chicago is complemented by music and exciting activities for the entire family. Every summer since 1980, Chicago’s beautiful Grant Park on the city’s magnificent lakefront has been home to the world’s largest food festival.

Obviously i will be in attendance, and so will a fellow Eagle, Victoria. (pictures to come)

This past week has been a lot of fun/hard work/excitement. As I have written about before, I have been working on a tonnnn of projects at work and I love every second of it. Being busy is just about the best thing in the world. GAC turns 15 tomorrow, and with that the CEO, Lisa, wanted to revamp the website and get more visibility via social media. It has been one of my main projects to research the various ways to increase that visibility and get more “hits” to our website. Additionally, GAC has a sister company, Optivara, a cloud-based software developer. Their one product, LaunchPath, is designed to assist companies with project management through developing launch plans, monitoring & recording activity, minimizing risk, and maximizing value. I was to do a competitor analysis to see whether or not other software companies had a similar product and to what extent. These projects are very interesting and rewarding because I feel as though I am doing actual work to help GAC and gaining a great amount of experience at my time with the company, I love it!

Last Wednesday after work I drove to O’Hare (in crazy traffic) to pick up Dylan!! He stayed until Sunday and we had a lot of fun during his visit! We explored Evanston, went to all of these cool places that I thought was too lame to go to alone, we went kayaking on Lake Michigan, played a bunch of soccer at the field, went to Chicago and ate on Navy Pier, saw pretty fireworks, and ate awesome pancakes. Time really does fly by when you’re having fun, but every minute he was here was so fun! We also went to Buffalo Wild Wings (because we wanted to watch soccer and I unfortunately do not have cable) which was my first experience at the establishment, and might I say, it was quite delicious.

It was upsetting that he couldn’t through Sunday night, when USA took on Japan in the World Cup Final. But I enjoyed watching the US own the lives of every Japanese player on the field and take the title of World Champions!!! Today was their parade in New York, and to whoever had the great opportunity to be there, I am super jealous.

Below are some pictures from the past week 🙂 Have a good weekend!

It would be unholy if we didn’t hit up the soccer fields and make everyone jealous of our skillzzzz
